Well, after 4 1/2 hours of running in the heart of Chicago, I was thrilled to cross the finish line and not have to run any more!! Not that I could have run any more! Thank you to all of my friends and family who were praying for us on Sunday and who were so encouraging throughout the training for the marathon. I am so thankful to the Lord for allowing me to run and finish the race--and all in one piece!! (Today is the first day my legs feel somewhat normal and I can go up and down stairs without extreme pain, but other than that...)
The atmosphere in Chicago was amazing! Over 2 million people downtown cheering and offering words of encouragement, and about 45,000 runners! It took us nearly 20 minutes just to get to the start line--and even after 26.2 miles, we were still running in a crowd!
It was also such a privilege to be a part of World Vision's team, and to take a small part in what they are doing in the lives of people in Africa. I just read an update saying they believe they will come very close to raising $1 million through this race! Thank you to those who partnered with me in raising money for World Vision.
Overall, the weekend was a lot of fun! The kids did great here and it was a fun getaway for us!
