SO, Hailey had her first week of school and she LOVED it! She is so excited about all of it—the new uniform with black shoes and red socks (she loved getting to go shopping for these things!), packing a lunch and walking to school! She seems So BIG in her little uniform, carrying her little school bag. It is about a 10 minute walk to school—and would take probably longer to drive, so we walk to and from school each day! The first day was an absolute zoo outside, since there is just one small door for everyone to go through, but they only let the kids go through in the morning. Needless to say, it was a little nerve-wracking for Ben and me. But Hailey walked right in without skipping a beat! She has been full of smiles all week—in fact she was only sad when we told her that she didn’t get to go to school on Saturday! But then she was okay when she realized that meant she could be home and play with Juliana and Lydia all day!
She goes from 9-12, although the first week was only 9-11. She knew 2 kids in her class before going, which was great! On her second day of school, her teacher told Ben that there were 2 teachers in the class that day—Hailey was teaching her class English! She also tells everyone when they ask if her teacher speaks any English “yes, because I taught her some!” She is soon going to be my Spanish teacher—or at least translator!!
I am SO SO proud of you, Hailey girl! You have been braver than I could ever be. You have jumped right in with such a cheerful and willing spirit, and you are doing GREAT!! You are getting so big, but I love to see you enjoying school so much!
